📰 Will this $25B deal reshape cybersecurity? Palo Alto buys CyberArk

After rumors yesterday, it’s now official: Palo Alto Networks is buying CyberArk in a $25 billion deal.

CyberArk shareholders will receive $45 in cash plus 2.2 Palo Alto shares for every CyberArk share they own. That’s a 26% premium. The deal is expected to close in the second half of Palo Alto’s fiscal year 2026, as long as regulators and shareholders sign off.

CyberArk is one of the top players in privileged access management (PAM) – the tools that decide who, or what, can access sensitive systems. It’s a perfect fit for Palo Alto’s plan to become the one‑stop shop for enterprise security. CyberArk’s products will be integrated into Palo Alto’s Strata and Cortex platforms.

What Palo Alto is Getting

This deal gives Palo Alto a powerful new building block: identity security. And that’s a big deal.

Companies today have to secure far more than just employee accounts. Think about servers, cloud applications, automated software bots and even AI agents – all of them need the right access at the right time. That’s where CyberArk comes in. Its technology makes sure every identity only gets the exact permissions it needs, and only for as long as it’s needed.

That’s also key in the era of AI. Autonomous AI agents will increasingly handle sensitive tasks. With CyberArk, Palo Alto can secure these identities and close a major gap in its platform. This makes Palo Alto better at stopping advanced attacks and puts the company in a stronger position for the future.

On top of that, the deal gives Palo Alto access to CyberArk’s large and loyal customer base of over 10,000 enterprises. That opens the door to cross‑selling Palo Alto’s broader security portfolio – a big commercial advantage.

The upside is huge, but integration will be a challenge. Bringing together technologies and teams always takes time. If Palo Alto gets it right, it will be harder for other companies to catch up.

Wake‑Up Call for Competitors?

This move puts big names like CrowdStrike, Zscaler and Fortinet on alert. With CyberArk onboard, Palo Alto now offers a broader, more complete platform – exactly what large enterprises want.

The message to competitors is clear: move faster or get left behind.

CrowdStrike is well positioned with Falcon Identity, but will likely keep expanding its identity offering to meet demand for a more complete platform.
Zscaler is strong in Zero Trust, but will need to deepen its own identity capabilities to stay competitive.
Fortinet still leans heavily on firewalls and network security but lacks a strong identity play.

This could trigger a wave of new acquisitions as these companies try to close the gap.

And there’s a lot to play for. Identity security is one of the fastest‑growing segments in cybersecurity. Analysts expect the market to almost double to around $47 billion by 2028. Whoever makes the right moves now will be best positioned to capture that growth.

This doesn’t mean Palo Alto’s rivals are out of the game. The cybersecurity market is growing fast, and each of these companies has strong products and loyal customers. But the pressure is definitely on.

The Identity Era

This acquisition highlights a big shift: identity security is becoming the foundation of enterprise security. If digital identities – human, machine or AI – aren’t secured, the risks are enormous. Palo Alto is betting big on this reality.

But there’s a flip side. Having one vendor handle everything can be easier, but it also makes customers more dependent. Many will want Palo Alto to keep working well with other platforms.

One thing is clear: a single point solution is no longer enough. And we’ll almost certainly see more big acquisitions in the cybersecurity sector in the months ahead. Who will be next?

📰 Major AI Power Deal Just Closed — What You Need to Know

Yesterday, after nearly two weeks of rumors, CoreWeave officially announced it has acquired long-time partner Core Scientific in a $9 billion all-stock deal. CoreWeave is best known for its user-friendly, GPU-powered cloud platform for AI and heavy computing — and will now bring its data centers and power contracts in-house.

Since 2018, CoreWeave relied on Core Scientific to build and run the large facilities and electrical systems that power its GPUs. Core Scientific began in crypto-mining but now hosts AI and HPC workloads, handling power agreements and site operations so CoreWeave’s customers can spin up machines with a few clicks.

By buying Core Scientific, CoreWeave solves three big challenges at once:

Power control: AI and HPC workloads consume massive amounts of electricity. Owning 1.3 GW of capacity (with room to add another 1 GW) frees CoreWeave from bidding wars and rising lease rates.
Cost savings: Instead of over $10 billion in future lease fees, CoreWeave converts those commitments into owned assets — forecasting about $500 million in annual savings by late 2027.
Seamless expertise: Core Scientific’s team brings 150+ years of combined data-center know-how, helping CoreWeave upgrade, maintain, and scale its infrastructure faster than starting from scratch.

In short, CoreWeave shifts from renting space and power to owning it. That gives the company more freedom to expand, innovate, and boost profits over time.

The deal in detail

Here is a breakdown of the key terms and structure of the deal:

All-stock transaction: CoreWeave pays with shares instead of cash, so it keeps its cash available for running and growing the business.
Deal value: $9 billion in CoreWeave stock.
Exchange ratio: Each CORZ share converts to 0.1235 CRWV shares.
Implied price: $20.40 per CORZ share; the final value depends on CoreWeave’s share price when the deal closes.
Power capacity: 1.3 GW of data-center power now + room to add another 1 GW.
Approvals: Must be approved by each company’s shareholders and by regulators.
Closing timetable: Expected in Q4 2025.

What it means for shareholders

For CoreWeave investors, this $9 billion all-stock deal means you’ll own a smaller slice of the company today. CoreWeave shares fell about 3 percent after the news. But in return, CoreWeave takes control of roughly 1.3 GW of power capacity (with room to add another 1 GW) and wipes out over $10 billion in future lease bills. Management says owning rather than renting will save about $500 million a year by late 2027, boost profit margins, and give the company more freedom to roll out new AI capacity quickly. In short, you trade short-term dilution for a stronger, more self-reliant business that can grow steadily as AI demand rises.

If you own Core Scientific stock, each CORZ share converts into 0.1235 CRWV shares. Based on CRWV’s closing price on July 3, that is $20.40 per share, but the final rate depends on CRWV’s share price when the deal closes. That uncertainty sent Core Scientific down 18% yesterday. Many fear CoreWeave’s stock price could fall before the deal is closed. In the end, you’ll hold under 10% of the combined company, and with CoreWeave’s IPO lock-up ending in Q3 2025, further selling pressure could follow. This week, the US Senate approved a major new law called the GENIUS Act to regulate stablecoins — a big step toward making these digital currencies more accepted and trusted.

But what are stablecoins?

Stablecoins are a type of cryptocurrency designed to keep a stable value. They are usually linked to a real-world currency, like the US dollar. For example, 1 stablecoin = 1 US dollar. This makes them much less volatile than regular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

More importantly: stablecoins can be used to send money quickly and cheaply —without banks or credit card networks. That’s why many people see them as a possible new way to pay online or in stores.

💳 Why does this matter for Visa and Mastercard?

Visa and Mastercard are not just credit card companies. They control the payment networks behind most of the world’s (digital) purchases.

Whenever you use your card or buy something online, there’s a good chance Visa or Mastercard is involved. These networks process hundreds of billions of dollars in transactions every year and earning fees on each payment.

Stablecoins could change that.

With stablecoins, you could send money directly to a store, website, or person — without going through traditional payment networks. That means faster payments, lower fees, and possibly a much cheaper way for businesses to get paid.

Now that the US Senate has approved this new law, companies like Amazon and Walmart are starting to explore using stablecoins for payments. If they succeed, it could put pressure on Visa and Mastercard’s traditional business model.

🛑 Is this the end of Visa and Mastercard?

Not so fast.

Even though stablecoins offer some big benefits, there are still reasons why Visa and Mastercard remain strong for now:

They’re everywhere. Visa and Mastercard are accepted in over 200 countries, online and offline. Stablecoins have a long way to go to catch up.
People trust them. Most consumers are familiar with credit and debit cards. Stablecoins are still new and confusing to many.
They’re adapting. Visa and Mastercard aren’t ignoring this trend. Both are investing in blockchain technology and working on ways to use stablecoins in their own networks.
Regulation is still unclear globally. The US has made progress, but other countries are moving more slowly or are against stablecoins altogether.

So, while stablecoins could grow fast, they probably won’t replace Visa and Mastercard overnight. It’s more likely that they will exist alongside each other — for now.

Stablecoins are getting serious. With this new US law, we’re entering a phase where digital dollars can become a real option for everyday payments.

📰 A Driverless Uber in London — Is This a Turning Point for Uber?

Uber has just announced that it’s teaming up with UK-based AI startup Wayve to launch trials of fully autonomous vehicles on the streets of London. These are Level 4 self-driving cars, meaning they don’t need a human behind the wheel — not even as backup.

This is Uber’s first real test of true driverless technology in Europe. The vehicles will run on Wayve’s Embodied AI platform, which learns to drive like a human — by reacting to real-world situations instead of following detailed maps or pre-programmed instructions.

This trial is happening thanks to new UK regulations that fast-track testing and approval of autonomous vehicles. If successful, these robotaxis could officially hit the road by 2026.

Why this test really matters

Plenty of self-driving tests have already happened in U.S. cities like San Francisco and Phoenix. But those cities are relatively simple compared to London, where traffic is unpredictable, the streets are narrow and winding, and the road rules are often very different.

London is chaotic — and that’s exactly what makes it the perfect testing ground.

As Wayve CEO Alex Kendall put it, “If it works here, it can work anywhere.” This test isn’t just a trial. It’s a proof of concept. Can this AI-driven car handle one of the toughest driving environments in the world?

If it can, then scaling to other cities becomes much easier — and much faster.

What this means for Uber

Uber has had a complicated history with autonomous driving. Years ago, it tried to build its own self-driving tech but pulled the plug after accidents, delays, and mounting costs. Since then, Uber has changed course — now it’s working with outside tech partners who specialize in autonomy.

That strategy is paying off. Uber is already working with Waymo in the U.S. and Pony.ai in China. Now, with Wayve, it’s back in the self-driving game in Europe and this time, it’s doing it smarter.

If this test works, it could lead to:

Fewer human drivers needed over time
Lower operating costs and higher profit margins
A more consistent experience for riders across cities and countries

In short: Uber doesn’t want to build the self-driving cars itself anymore. It wants to be the platform that connects the best autonomous tech to passengers, anywhere in the world.

The robotaxi race

Uber isn’t alone. All around the world, companies are racing to bring robotaxis to the streets:

Waymo (owned by Google) is already offering fully driverless rides in Phoenix and San Francisco.
Cruise (backed by GM) showed early promise but had to pause operations after safety concerns.
Tesla has long promoted its Full Self-Driving system, which until now still required human supervision. But this week, Tesla is finally kicking off a fully driverless pilot in Austin — with no one behind the wheel. A small fleet of Model Ys is expected to start testing on June 12, in carefully selected parts of the city under close monitoring.
In China, companies like Baidu, WeRide, and Pony.ai are also moving fast and testing in multiple cities.

But the biggest challenge for all of them? Scaling.

Most systems today rely on detailed maps and only work in specific zones. That makes it hard to expand quickly. Wayve’s AI-driven approach is different: it learns by doing, adapts on the go, and doesn’t need fixed routes, giving it a potential edge in reaching more cities, faster.

If it works in London, Uber could be one of the first platforms to roll out robotaxis at scale across Europe.

What’s next?

There’s no exact timeline yet for when you’ll be able to ride in a driverless Uber in London. First, Wayve and Uber need approval from the UK government and Transport for London.

But everything suggests they’re working hard to get things moving by 2026. If that happens, it would be an important step in Uber’s long-term strategy — and possibly a signal that robotaxis are finally ready for the real world.

📰 Will OpenAI's Device Look Like This?

What’s going on?

OpenAI has acquired the AI hardware startup io, co-founded by legendary Apple designer Jony Ive, in a $6.5 billion deal. It’s a clear signal that OpenAI isn’t just building powerful AI software anymore — it’s now designing the hardware we’ll use to interact with it.

Jony Ive, the designer behind the iPhone, MacBook, and Apple Watch, is now helping OpenAI create its first hardware for everyday users. Together with CEO Sam Altman, he’s working on a completely new kind of device. It’s not a phone, not a headset, and not like anything we’ve seen before.

Altman believes this new AI device could become a “third core device” in our daily lives — next to the computer and smartphone — and could eventually add $1 trillion in value to OpenAI.

What are they actually building?

Early reports give us a first glimpse of the prototype. Here’s what we know so far:

It’s slightly larger than the Humane AI Pin, but smoother and more elegant — think iPod Shuffle vibes
You wear it around your neck, and it uses cameras and microphones to understand what’s happening around you
There’s no screen, no apps, everything happens quietly in the background
It relies on your smartphone or computer for processing and display when needed
Privacy and smooth interaction with AI are key priorities
Mass production is expected by 2027, likely in Vietnam to shift production away from China

Why does it matter?

Because it changes how we use technology in everyday life. Altman thinks devices like phones, tablets, and smart speakers often hold back what AI can really do. This new device is designed to break through those limits.

Jony Ive has said that smartphones can take up too much of our time and attention. This new device is designed to do the opposite — helping you quietly, in the background, without taking over.

It reflects a broader trend: “physical AI”, where AI becomes part of small, everyday tools that support you without needing a screen.

Is Apple in trouble?

This new device is not here to replace the iPhone — at least not any time soon. Just like smartphones didn’t make laptops disappear, this could be a helpful extra, not a total replacement. But over time, it might take over some everyday tasks: asking questions, getting quick summaries, controlling smart devices, or staying connected to your digital world, all without having to grab a screen.

So why might this one succeed where others failed, like the Humane AI Pin or the Rabbit R1? One big reason is design. This isn’t a clunky or rushed gadget. It’s being developed by the designer behind Apple’s most famous products. And with OpenAI’s technology and vision powering it, the result feels much more complete and useful.

Even Apple seems to take it seriously. While they’re rolling out their own AI system — Apple Intelligence — they still depend on OpenAI’s ChatGPT in some important areas. That’s unusual for a company that normally builds everything themselves.

When will we see it?

The goal is mass production by 2027, according to sources. A prototype already exists, and Altman is said to be using it himself. But the final design and features might still change.

What’s clear is the ambition: this isn’t just another phone, watch, or pair of glasses. It’s something new — and it could reshape how we think about all of them.

New device, New competition

This isn’t just another tech gadget. It’s a fresh way to rethink how we interact with smart technology. 📰 Why First Solar Stock Is Suddenly on Fire

First Solar is on a strong run. The stock rose 11% on Monday, climbed another 20% today, and is now almost 50% over the past few days, a surprising rebound that few expected.

What makes the rise even more impressive is the timing. Just two weeks ago, First Solar let investors down with a weak earnings report and cut its full-year outlook by billions. Confidence was low, and the stock was falling. But that changed almost overnight, thanks to a key policy shift, followed by analyst upgrades, and a growing awareness of the company’s long-term strengths.

From pressure to potential

The main catalyst was a surprise decision from Washington. The U.S. had been preparing to raise import tariffs on solar panels from 10% to 46%, a move that would have made much of First Solar’s planned 2025 production from Southeast Asia unprofitable. Around 14 gigawatts of its expected output could have been impacted, a potential multi-billion dollar headwind.

But instead of going ahead with the tariff increase, the government decided to delay it for 90 days. The current 10% tariff will stay in place while talks continue. This gave First Solar some breathing room, helped protect its profit margins, and quickly improved its short-term outlook.

At the same time, First Solar is in a very strong market position. Most Chinese solar panel makers are still blocked from selling in the U.S. because of high tariffs — some even above 3,000% — on crystalline silicon panels. That means First Solar faces less competition and is in a great spot to meet the rising demand for solar panels in the U.S.

And there’s another advantage. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, First Solar gets a tax credit of $0.17 for every watt of solar panel it produces in the U.S. This makes American-made panels more profitable. As First Solar builds more factories in the U.S., these government incentives will continue to support its profits. It’s a rare case where a company is protected from foreign rivals and also rewarded for growing at home.

Confidence returns

That change has already caught attention. On Tuesday, Wolfe Research upgraded First Solar to ‘Outperform’ and raised its price target to $221. The firm pointed to strong support from government policies, agreement across political parties on clean energy, and First Solar’s advantage as tensions with China continue to rise. Even a new proposal to shorten the 45X tax credit period was seen as a positive step, because it could reduce political uncertainty ahead of the next elections.

More investors are starting to pay attention. After being valued as a risky stock, First Solar is now being seen as a stronger and more stable company.

There are now a few key dates that investors are watching, moments that could influence the next stage of this rally:

June – A U.S. vote on whether to make tariffs on Chinese solar panels permanent.
July 9 – The end of the 90-day pause on the tariff increase.
Late July / Early August – Q2 results: The first look at how pricing, profit margins, and tax credits are affecting the company’s performance.

The sun is shining

Two weeks ago, things weren’t looking great for First Solar. It seemed like the company was heading for a difficult year. But after one important policy change, new government support, and the company’s strong competitive position, the story completely turned around.

📰 Waymo and Uber Scale Up in the Robotaxi Race

For a long time, robotaxis felt like something from a science fiction movie, interesting, but far away. But here we are in 2025, and things are moving fast. Just yesterday, two major announcements from Waymo and Uber made it clear: driverless cars are no longer just a test. They’re getting ready to hit the streets in a big way.

Waymo builds a robotaxi factory

Waymo , the self-driving tech company owned by Google’s parent company Alphabet, just opened a massive new factory in Mesa, Arizona. It’s designed to produce thousands of autonomous vehicles every year, starting with more than 2,000 and ramping up from there. These vehicles are based on the Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV. After they arrive at the factory, Waymo and partner Magna install the latest self-driving system. And here’s the impressive part: according to Waymo, the vehicles can start picking up passengers within just 30 minutes of leaving the factory.

Why Arizona? The dry weather makes it easier to test and validate the vehicles. Plus, the location is close to Waymo’s existing robotaxi markets, like Phoenix, San Francisco, and Austin. Later this year, the factory will also start preparing a new model: the Zeekr RT, featuring Waymo’s sixth-generation self-driving system.

Uber and WeRide expand their robotaxi service

At the same time, Uber and Chinese autonomous driving company WeRide are expanding their commercial robotaxi partnership. They already launched a service in Abu Dhabi, and now they’re rolling out to 15 more cities over the next five years, focusing on areas outside the U.S. and China, including Europe.

Here’s how the partnership works:

WeRide provides the autonomous vehicles and driving tech.

This is part of Uber’s broader strategy: instead of building its own self-driving cars, it’s teaming up with multiple tech partners. In the past two years, Uber has announced more than 15 of these partnerships, including with Waymo, May Mobility, Volkswagen, and Momenta.

The market is moving quickly

Why is everything accelerating now? For years, robotaxis were stuck in the testing phase, but that’s changing quickly. The technology is finally ready for real-world use, more cities are starting to approve autonomous vehicles on public roads, and investors are pushing hard for actual results. The focus has shifted from lab tests to large-scale rollout, and companies are responding fast.

Big names in tech and transportation are now racing to take the lead:

Waymo has been in the game the longest. Its self-driving system is considered one of the most advanced, and with its new factory in Arizona, the company is ready to scale. It already runs commercial robotaxi services in cities like San Francisco, Phoenix, and Austin.
Uber & WeRide are taking a partnership-first approach. Uber doesn’t make its own vehicles, but by teaming up with WeRide and others, it can launch driverless services quickly and globally. Their next move: expanding to 15 new cities in the coming years.
Tesla is aiming to launch its first dedicated robotaxi later this year, a vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals. Tesla controls both the car and the software, which gives it a major edge. However, the company has made bold claims before that didn’t pan out. This launch could be a game-changer, if it actually happens.
Other players are still in the race, too. Cruise (backed by GM) is regrouping after safety issues. Amazon’s Zoox is testing futuristic vehicles, while Motional (a Hyundai joint venture) continues trials in select cities. In China, Baidu and AutoX are pushing forward with their own robotaxi programs.

What’s clear is that the robotaxi industry is no longer an experiment. It’s a global race, driven by big investments, rising demand, and serious ambition.

Who will win the robotaxi race?

The biggest takeaway? Robotaxis are no longer some distant dream. Waymo is building them by the thousands. Uber is striking global deals and launching services city by city. Tesla is gearing up to show the world its own bold take on autonomous transport. Cities are opening up, regulations are shifting, and the technology is finally ready.

Right now, Waymo seems to have the technical lead, with the most advanced system and a clear plan to scale. Uber is best positioned globally, thanks to its massive platform and flexible strategy. 📰 Wegovy Moves Into the Mainstream

Last Tuesday, Novo Nordisk announced that its weight loss drug Wegovy would become available through major telehealth platforms like Hims & Hers, Ro, and LifeMD. Just one day later, CVS Health followed with news that it will add Wegovy to its standard list of covered medications starting July 1, making it the preferred obesity treatment across Caremark’s large customer base.

These developments show how quickly Wegovy is becoming more accessible across the U.S. They also raise an important question: is Novo Nordisk positioning itself as the clear leader in a weight loss market that’s growing faster than anyone expected?

CVS chooses Wegovy, drops Zepbound

CVS has decided to give Wegovy a bigger role and to stop offering Zepbound, a similar weight loss drug from Eli Lilly. This change could lead millions of people to switch to Wegovy. Caremark, the part of CVS that manages prescriptions, helps arrange which medicines are available to many people in the U.S. By adding Wegovy to its main list and removing Zepbound, CVS is making it easier for people to get Wegovy.

CVS also says it made a better price deal for Wegovy. This can help companies and unions save money. They may use those savings to lower costs for people, such as cheaper pharmacy bills or health plan payments.

Wegovy will also be part of the CVS Weight Management program. This program offers extra help, like meal plans and personal coaching. It’s not just about taking a medicine, but about helping people stick with healthy changes over time.

Expanded access via Telehealth Platforms

Before the CVS news, Novo Nordisk had already made a move to widen access through the digital route. It announced that Wegovy would be offered through several leading telehealth platforms, including Hims & Hers, Ro, and LifeMD.

Through these platforms, people can complete an online consultation, receive a prescription, and have Wegovy delivered to their homes. This opens the door for many people who don’t have access to traditional healthcare plans or prefer the simplicity of online services.

Prices vary depending on the provider. Novo Nordisk’s own online pharmacy, NovoCare, offers Wegovy at $499 per month. Ro matches this price, while Hims & Hers offers the drug for $599 per month, including additional services like 24/7 care, nutrition guidance, and coaching.

This change comes at an important time. In the past, many people used cheaper, copy versions of semaglutide, the ingredient in Wegovy, because the real version was hard to find. But new rules in the U.S. now limit these unofficial versions. As a result, more people are turning to the approved version — and Novo Nordisk is ready to meet that demand.

A turning point for Wegovy

Wegovy is no longer difficult to access. It’s now available in more places, both in pharmacies and online, and often supported by programs that help people stick to healthier habits. Connecting the world from low-Earth orbit

Project Kuiper is working to create a network of more than 3,200 satellites in low-Earth orbit, designed to deliver fast and accessible internet across even the most isolated parts of the world. With millions of people still offline, and digital access becoming fundamental to modern life, it's no surprise that tech giants are racing to capture this massive opportunity.

Yet while Amazon is only now starting to get its first operational satellites into space, SpaceX has already launched over 8,000 Starlink satellites, with around 7,000 still actively orbiting Earth. Starlink is already connecting millions of users — from farmers in remote fields to airplanes crossing oceans, and even astronauts. That makes it incredibly challenging for Amazon to break into the market, especially since building a global satellite network isn't just expensive, with estimates of over $17 billion, but also requires years of steady progress to meet user expectations.

And that's not even mentioning the technical challenges. Satellites traveling at more than 17,000 miles per hour must constantly connect with thousands of ground stations and millions of small satellite dishes on rooftops and in fields across the world. One small mistake could cause a customer to lose their connection, something that's simply not acceptable in today’s always-online world.

The geopolitical race for space internet

Competition isn’t the only factor. Politics also plays a part. Starlink has become very important in recent conflicts, such as in Ukraine, where it kept communications going when regular networks failed. Some governments and organizations want another option besides Musk's growing influence, and Amazon, led by Jeff Bezos, could be that option.

But Amazon isn’t the only one. Other companies are also moving into satellite internet:

OneWeb: A European company focused on broadband connections from low-Earth orbit.
Telesat: A Canadian company building its Lightspeed network for businesses.
AST SpaceMobile: A U.S. company developing the first space-based mobile network that can connect directly to normal smartphones.
The European Union: Creating its own satellite internet system to have more control over communications.
China: Building large satellite networks as part of its plans for space.

The competition is growing quickly. Many countries want systems they can manage themselves, instead of depending on a few billionaires for critical communication services.

The clock is ticking…

The good news for Amazon is that demand for fast, stable internet keeps growing around the world. Project Kuiper has already signed deals with major telecom companies like Verizon, Vodafone, and NTT Docomo to help expand their mobile networks. Even groups like NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense, and DARPA have shown interest in what Kuiper can offer.

Still, Amazon is under pressure. If Kuiper takes too long to launch at scale, SpaceX could pull even further ahead, and that gap might become too large to close. Some experts think there’s enough room for more than one provider, but others worry that Amazon’s massive investment might not pay off.

One thing is clear: the new space race isn't about planting flags on the Moon anymore, it’s about who controls the internet highways of the future. It remains to be seen if Amazon can still become a serious competitor or if SpaceX will continue to dominate, but the outcome could shape the digital future of the entire planet.

This change is very important, both for Nubank and for people in Mexico who are looking for better banking options.

What this means for Nubank in Mexico

📰 Own a Robotaxi? Sooner Than You Think

The Tesla model: own the car, earn with the car

While Alphabet tests the waters, Tesla is already diving in. Elon Musk has long envisioned a world where Tesla owners can list their self-driving vehicles on a shared robotaxi network. You buy the car, and when you're not using it, it earns money by giving rides to others. fully autonomous, fully electric.

Musk claims Tesla’s cars will cost far less than Waymo’s, since they rely only on cameras and AI (no lidar or radar). According to him, a Tesla robotaxi costs about a quarter of what a Waymo does, making it easier to scale.

Tesla is still aiming to launch its robotaxi service in mid-2025, starting in Austin, Texas. And unlike Waymo, Tesla wants to make robotaxi ownership the norm, not the exception.

📰 TSMC Reveals the Chip That Will Power the Future

The world of chips is moving incredibly fast, and TSMC is stepping on the gas. At its annual North America Technology Symposium, the world’s largest chipmaker shared its plans for the coming years. The message was clear: everything is about to become smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient. And at the center of this transformation is the new A14 chip.

What makes the A14 so special? First, the size. The A14 is just 1.4 nanometers. For comparison, a human hair is about 80,000 nanometers thick. At that tiny scale, TSMC can fit millions of components onto a single chip, making it faster and much more efficient.

According to TSMC, the A14 will deliver:

Up to 15% more speed with the same power usage,
Or up to 30% lower power usage with the same performance,
And 20% more computing power in the same space.

Not all power is necessary, yet

The first version of the A14 won’t include something called “backside power delivery” (BSPDN), a new way of delivering power from the back of the chip. TSMC is holding off on this for now, because many current applications don’t need it yet. That decision keeps costs lower, while still delivering top performance.

In 2029, we’ll likely see a version of the chip with BSPDN, probably named A14P. Later, we can also expect versions like A14X (for high-performance systems) and A14C (more cost-friendly options).

It’s more than just chips

TSMC is also working on smarter ways to connect chips within a system. Their packaging technology, called CoWoS (Chip on Wafer on Substrate), is advancing quickly. Soon, they’ll be able to integrate 12 or more high-speed memory units directly alongside powerful chips. That’s especially important for AI, which needs lots of memory and speed.

Mass production of these powerful chip packages will start in 2027. At the same time, TSMC plans to launch an even more advanced platform: SoW-X (System-on-Wafer Extreme). This new system could deliver up to 40 times the performance of current CoWoS setups, and it’s expected to arrive in 2027 as well.

From chip to change

This technology isn’t a far-off future. It’s becoming the new standard. The A14 chip and these smart packaging techniques are paving the way for:

Faster apps,
Longer battery life,
Smarter cars,
And more energy-efficient data centers.

Expanding into Mexico means a lot. Chipotle’s menu is based on Mexican flavors, and the company believes its focus on fresh, responsibly sourced ingredients will connect with local customers. Analysts at S&P Global Mobility expect Tesla to sell 10,000 to 15,000 vehicles in Saudi Arabia over the next two years. Respectable numbers, but not exactly a revolution. And once local and Chinese-made EVs scale up, the pressure will increase fast.

One thing is certain: winning the EV race in the desert will take more than a flashy Cybertruck and a stylish mall kiosk. Charging must be reliable. Service needs to be accessible. And pricing? It’ll have to compete with a market used to luxury and local incentives. Musk is betting on the old rule: scarcity drives desire. But in this part of the world, that theory still needs to prove itself.
