Every two weeks, we host a Stock Battle on our X page between two competing companies. Which one is the favorite among our followers? And find out which one we think has the stronger fundamentals.
And the winner is...Albemarle with 70% of the votes!
Albemarle and Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM) are two of the largest and most important lithium producers in the world. Lithium is a critical resource in the clean energy transition, powering everything from electric vehicles to grid storage batteries. Both companies have benefited massively from the global surge in EV demand and the resulting spike in lithium prices over the past few years.
The two companies are quite similar in how they operate. Both are vertically integrated lithium producers, handling everything from mining to chemical processing. They have a strong presence in Chile’s Salar de Atacama, one of the richest lithium regions in the world, and both have long-term contracts with major car and battery makers.
