The energy storage market is growing fast, and two companies trying to grab apiece of it are Fluence Energy and Stem. Both want to help the world store energy smarter and more efficiently, but they’re doing it in different ways.
Fluence Energy builds big energy storage systems for utilities, renewable energy developers, and grid operators. They don’t just sell batteries, they also offer services to keep everything running properly. With big names like Siemens and AES Corporation behind them, Fluence has some serious support.
Stem focuses more on helping businesses. They install smart energy storage systems for companies and use AI software to help them manage energy use and save money. Their system, called Athena, predicts when it’s best to store or use energy. So instead of going after huge utility projects, Stem works more one-on-one with commercial customers.
Curious which of these companies has the better shot at winning? Let’s take a closer look.
