📰 Microsoft Introduces Phi-4: A Significant Step Forward in GenAI
New model improves math problem solving with high-quality datasets and post-training developments.
Microsoft MSFT 0.00%↑ has introduced Phi-4, the latest addition to its Phi family of generative AI models. Available on the Azure AI Foundry development platform for research purposes, Phi-4 is offered under a limited access research license agreement. This smaller model, with 14 billion parameters, brings substantial improvements, particularly in solving complex math problems.
The improvements are credited to the use of high-quality synthetic datasets alongside human-generated content and some undisclosed post-training techniques. Phi-4 joins other small AI models like GPT-4o mini and Gemini 2.0 Flash, known for their speed and cost-efficiency.
Phi-4 is also the first Phi-series model released after the departure of Sébastien Bubeck, a former key figure in its development, who left Microsoft in October to join OpenAI. With Phi-4, Microsoft continues its exploration of synthetic data and post-training methods to push the boundaries of AI performance.
