π° Nvidia's Next-Gen Rubin GPU Launch Expected Sooner
Morgan Stanley forecasts earlier-than-expected launch of NVIDIA's 3nm Rubin GPU, with significant industry impacts.
Morgan Stanley has predicted that NVIDIA's NVDA 0.00%β next-generation Rubin GPU, built on advanced 3nm technology, will enter production six months ahead of schedule, with a launch expected in the second half of 2025. This shift could double the chip's size compared to its predecessor, Blackwell, incorporating four computing chips and advanced features like CPO and HBM4.
The chip is named after Vera Rubin, an American astronomer who made groundbreaking contributions to the study of dark matter and galaxy rotation curves.
The accelerated timeline is due to the complexity of the new chip and the readiness of TSMC and the broader supply chain. Analysts also noted that TSMC's expansion of CoWoS capacity and increasing demand for testing equipment, like Advantest, will drive further industry growth.
Key supply chain players, including ASMPT and K&S, are already gearing up for the production surge. Despite some delays in tool certifications, low-volume procurement for Rubinβs production is expected by late 2025, with mass production beginning in 2026.
