π Portfolio Update β June 2025
Markets Hit Highs. We Went Higher! β See How We Did It.
The first half of the year is over and markets are at all-time highs. What fueled Juneβs rally? Which stocks did well, which ones struggled, and what portfolio changes did we make? Explore our June review for all the key points and takeaways!
How did the markets perform?
After a strong May, June was also a good month for the stock markets. On June 11, U.S. consumer prices rose by just 0.1% from the previous month and 2.4% compared with a year ago β both a little below expectations. That helped ease worries that inflation would stay high for longer.
Just two days later, Israel launched a surprise strike on Iran, sending oil prices up 7% and causing a brief market dip. But investors bounced right back, and by the next day markets were doing fine again. A few days later, the two sides agreed on a short cease-fire, which helped settle the markets even more.
On June 18, the Federal Reserve decided to keep its policy rate at 4.25%β4.50% while hinting that rate cuts could come later this year if the economy holds up. Those hints of easier policy gave stocks an extra lift. By the end of June, both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq had climbed to new all-time highs, completely wiping out the sharp drop from early April.
Letβs take a quick look at how the major indexes performed this month:
S&P 500: +5.0% (+5.5% YTD) π
Nasdaq: +6.6% (+5.5% YTD) π
Dow Jones: +4.3% (+3.6% YTD) π
