📰 TSMC Reports Record Q4 Revenue
Q4 sales soar to new heights as AI technology drives strong demand for advanced chips.
TSMC TSM 0.00%↑ achieved record-breaking revenue of NT$868.46 billion ($26.3 billion) for the fourth quarter of 2024, a 38.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This strong performance exceeded analyst expectations, fueled by heightened demand for the company’s advanced semiconductor technologies, especially in artificial intelligence and next-gen smartphones. The demand for TSMC’s 3nm and 5nm chips, essential for AI applications, played a key role in driving the revenue surge.
In December alone, TSMC reported consolidated sales of NT$278.16 billion, marking a 0.8% increase from November 2024 and a remarkable 57.8% year-on-year rise. This was the second-highest monthly revenue in the company's history, following October 2024.
For the full year, TSMC posted a record NT$2.89 trillion in revenue, a 33.9% increase from 2023. This marks the highest annual revenue for the company since its inception in 1994. The surge in demand for AI-related chips, particularly for GPUs and AI accelerators, was a driving factor behind this record-breaking performance.
With AI technologies continuing to advance, TSMC's strong results in Q4 and throughout 2024 highlight its critical role in the global semiconductor supply chain. The company is well-positioned to continue leading the industry into 2025, capitalizing on the ongoing growth in AI demand.
